New Moon in Aquarius - January 25th

Ushering in the New Age.

The sun, the moon, Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron are gathered in the sign of Genius. That is not to say that they are transiting a realm of elevated intelligence; but one of new thought and imagination. This is the human function that allows us to conceive of things we have never before learned. It is the territory of alchemy and wonder. It is where all possibility is born within the fertile mind.

This is the womb of Hope.

Not long ago, any rational person would have said that human flight was impossible. Even more recently, common wisdom dictated that it simply could not be that a man could walk on the moon. More recently still, it was believed that a black man could never be elected president of the United States of America. Hope lived in the hearts and minds of those who dared to question these presuppositions. Innovation followed. And then there was light.

The sun speaks its word of identity and personal, individual radiance through this Aquarian time. It might be understood as having said, "Be that which you are. Fearlessly and openly. Declare yourself before the whole of the world and by your courage, let the world be inspired."

The moon reflects the deepest core of our secret selves. It answers the triumphant fanfare of the sun with its own, penetrating Truth: "Surrender to every joy, every sorrow. Suffer the constriction of your fear so that your heart may fully taste all of the alive-ness when you are liberated."

Jupiter and Neptune, expansive and deep, spanning the oceans and the sky, these brothers know of broadening horizons. They smile proudly over a race who has come to a place of illumination, where the value of one's dreams far outweighs that of one's knowledge.

And Chiron: the Wounded Healer discards his crutch and doffs his victimhood. Having been infirm, he has learned the means to administer health. He begrudges no man for having two strong and able legs while his own will not carry him. He resents no child for being hale while his body bears the evidence if age and injury. His work is for the greater good and while he does not forget himself, he is unencumbered by self-consciousness. Chiron is only what he is, and in that he knows only one thing to be True: he matters.

Step forward into the dawning age of Hope and know that your own well-being is critical to that of the greater whole. Attend to your own happiness, it is no mere luxury. Nurture your body. Feed your curiosity. Enliven your spirit. For every individual being who strives to live more fully, the whole of Life is elevated...

...now, go and be alive.
