It had been too long since the demise of Darkroom, Disko Nekro and Black Sun. We, the loyal participants of the Los Angeles Goth/Industrial scene have had too limited an access to the softer, more esoteric side of things as of late. Doomie and the Baron promised us “beauty, melancholy, romance and despair.” They delivered brilliantly on that declaration. Kate Bush, Bjork, Cocteau Twins, Legendary Pink Dots and This Mortal Coil wove glistening webs through the fingers of floor-crawling Goths who reveled shamelessly in the elegant theater of it all…

It was euphoric.

A couple of years ago, two very dear friends of mine decided I needed a good night out on the town and they dragged me to a night club called, Dungeon. Now, mind you, I had visited my share of Goth clubs sporadically in the past. But, I often visited them alone, since no one I knew either engaged in - or even tolerated - the Goth, Industrial, Ghoulie, Dark aesthetic. I suppose I was - at the time - a closet Goth.
